Exciting Updates, Upcoming Auditions, and a Look Back at “The Actress”
Hello everyone,
As I write this, the weather is sunny, with blue skies, and we are halfway through the year. It’s the perfect time to look at what we’ve done and to look ahead to the wonderful events we have planned.
Let’s start by talking about our recent production of ‘The Actress’ by Peter Quilter. If you didn’t get to see it, you missed a theatrical gem! The set design was nothing short of extraordinary, with its clever use of flowers and the lighting that transported the audience effortlessly between two plays. Hats off to the entire crew, but a special mention to the lighting and the stage management crew for their hard work and creativity—it was a treat for all who attended!
Under the brilliant direction of Debbie Nichols, the actors delivered stunning performances, bringing depth and charm to each character. Their ability to balance humour and poignant moments captivated the audience, leaving everyone spellbound. A standing ovation to our cast for their dedication and artistry!
Upcoming Events
Auditions for “Enchanted April”
The Auditions for ‘Enchanted April* ‘by Matthew Barber are just around the corner! They will take place on Wednesday, 2nd July at Walton-on-the-Hill Primary School at 8 pm. Performances are scheduled for November 27th, 28th, and 29th at Lord Riddell Memorial Hall.
This captivating play, set against the lush backdrop of 1920s Italy, tells the story of four women embarking on a holiday that will transform their lives. Feeling overlooked and constrained by their post-war existence, two London housewives impulsively rent an Italian villa for a ladies-only retreat. Along the way, they invite two other ladies to join them. The results? A clash of personalities that leads to unexpected experiences. But life, as always, has surprises in store when the men re-enter the picture!
Timeline:
Rehearsals begin on 7th July for two weeks before a summer break, resuming in September. This schedule ensures plenty of time to explore your characters.
Whether you’re an experienced performer or new to the stage, I encourage you to audition to help create this beautiful story on stage!

The Walton May Pageant: A Day to Celebrate!

Special recognition must be given to Lorraine, Claire, and Eileen for their remarkable ability to balance their contributions to the May Pageant Committee with their involvement in the Gage. Despite Eileen fracturing her leg, their efforts were truly outstanding. Thanks, are also due to Pip, who proved to be a brilliant compere.
Additionally, a big thank you to Rod, Anne, Elayne, Emma, and my husband Richard for their tireless work at the Tombola stall, where they warmly engaged with visitors and helped make the day so memorable.
